Calne Rotary Club – What’s happening?

On Sunday 19th May 60 Classic Cars gathered in Calne Leisure Centre Car park for a bacon butty before setting off for a fascinating 70 mile run through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Stopping for refreshments at the Goss Croft Hall at Seagry and then onto Winsley for lunch and time to enjoy the beautiful gardens of Dorothy House.

It was a true Calne community event with help from the Calne Lions, Marden Belles WI and Friends of Calne Rotary. The car run also featured much loved Teddy Bears and  dogs in some of the cars. Half the proceeds will go to Dorothy House and the remainder to local Rotary charities.

Don Kennedy at Dorothy House said ‘We are delighted to be a chosen charity by Calne Rotarians. Dorothy House provides vital palliative and end of life care services across the Calne Community. The Rotary club of Calne have been loyal supporters of our work for many years, and we are so grateful for their commitment to our work. The funds raised by this special event helps our Nurse Specialists, Hospice at Home and Family Support Teams be there for the Calne Community when it matters most. We would like to thank everyone involved.

Kate Tompkins of the Rotary Club of Calne said “We were delighted to welcome The Mayor who after waving the flag at the start of the rally drove his much loved Mazda MX5 as Car Number 00 right round the route”.
