Calne Rotary Club – What’s happening?

Calne Rotary would like to update you all on some important changes that are affecting the club and membership.

Due to falling membership numbers and conflicting priorities Calne Rotary have decided to join forces with Chippenham Rotary Club in order to continue our support for Calne and the surrounding area and to diversify and capitalise on their expertise and growing membership.

This does not mean we are leaving Calne, far from it we will indeed still be supporting Calne with the support of Chippenham Rotary Club whilst also offering them some of our expertise and skills.

Over the coming days and months you will gradually see changes, particularly as we come through the Covid-19 Pandemic which has as I’m sure you will understand made us all undergo many changes to reflect what is being termed the “New Normal”.

As the brave new world presents itself to us we will mobilise where necessary to continue to plan, organise and run events for the good and benefit of Calne and Chippenham whilst also providing  “service above self” where we can safely deliver it.

Please keep in touch with this website and the Chippenham website as this website may eventually become redundant as these changes take place.

Calne Rotary Bowood Fun Run

Thank you so much for supporting the Rotary Club of Calne’s  ‘ Virtual’ Fun Run this year’. We really missed seeing you on Sunday 29th March at Bowood and cheering you on but know that many of you have run the distance independently.  Whether you are an experienced runner, entering for the first time or a walker,  well done and many congratulations.

Two  of the  charities to benefit from the Fun Run are the Calne Welfare Trust and Devizes Assize Court Trust.  However, due to your generosity we are able to provide additional support to charities this year.

Many people are  facing isolation, the loss of friends and loved ones, increasing mental health problems, the loss of support from day centres and specialist health groups  and ongoing money worries .

Given these exceptional times we will use the remainder of the funds to support local charities who are caring for the most vulnerable people during the Covid 19 crisis and will be allocating the remainder of the money over the next few months.

We will  post details of the support to these charities on  social media and thank you  so much for your support and kindness.

Calne Rotary Classic Car Run

Due to Covid -19 and the need to minimise public gatherings we have postponed the Classic Car Run which was planned for Sunday 17th May 2020 and are now planning to hold it on Sunday 18th October 2020.

Calne Rotary Kids Out 2020

The ROTARY CLUB OF CALNE regretfully inform you that KID’S OUT to LONGLEAT on 10th June 2020 will not be held this year and no alternative dates are anticipated.
